How juicy is my ink pad?
Unless otherwise stated, all My Stampin Sale ink pads are preowned. It is important that you read the description carefully - your ink pad will be one of the following:
Unopened A brand new, unopened ink pad still in the original shrink wrapping straight from Stampin Up's factory. These ink pads come "as is" and we cannot make any guarantee as to how much life is left in them.
Reinked An opened ink pad, reinked by My Stampin Sale with a genuine Stampin Up reinker.
NOT reinked An opened ink pad in a colour for which we unfortunately don't have a reinker. These ink pads come "as is" and we cannot make any guarantee as to how much life is left in them.
Type of ink pad
Over time, Stampin Up has released a range of different ink pads. Please ensure that you read the descriptions below so that you know exactly what you are getting:
Firm Foam
This is latest ink pad being sold by Stampin Up. Stampin Up says that Firm Foam ink pads give better ink coverage, stay juicier and last longer. These pads are quite juicy when new - you can use paper towel to remove excess ink if you need to. You do not need to press hard to ink your stamp, tapping on the ink pad will give you the best results. These come in a flip top case - this means that the ink pad is stored in the correct, upside down position when the case is closed. Flip top cases are also the best ink pad for inking large stamps.
Felt
Felt ink pads are the immediate predecessors to Firm Foam pads. The cases are almost identical, so it is important not to confuse the two. Felt ink pads have a fabric surface, so you do need to press the stamp down firmly and ideally in more than one orientation on the ink pad to avoid getting a light "cross hatching" in your stamped image. Our reinked, felt ink pads are a great option if you are more cost conscious or are looking for a retired colour that isn't available in Firm Foam.
These also come in a flip top case - this means that the ink pad is stored in the correct, upside down position when the case is closed. Flip top cases are also the best ink pad for inking large stamps.
Compact Felt
Compact Felt ink pads are the original Stampin Up ink pads. They are essentially the same as Felt ink pads, but in a more compact case - the stamping surface is 9cm x 5.5cm rather than 9cm x 7cm. These are the most affordable stamp pads we sell. These are not a flip top case.
Craft
Firm Foam, Felt and Compact Felt ink pads contain Classic ink. Craft ink is different to Classic ink in that it doesn't fade over time. It takes a lot longer to dry than regular ink. It is opaque, so is perfect for stamping light colours onto dark paper. It works well when embossing and can be used to stamp on some fabrics.
Storage
Remember, always store your flip top Stampin Up ink pads (that is, Felt and Firm Foam pads) flat, with the label facing upwards. Stored this way, the ink pad sits upside down inside the case. This lets gravity do its work and keep the ink at the surface of the pad, just where you need it.
